Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei has asked former Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang’i to buckle up for what is coming his way.

In what he called tit for tat, the controversial senator shared that when he was being detained at Capitol Hill Police Station back in 2022, it was Dr Matiang’i who ordered his arrest.

Cherargei looked back at his not-so-good memories of clashing with the law. He expressed his unsympathetic stance towards Matiang’i’s Karen home raid by law enforcement.

Last year, Cherargei was detained in police cells after a warrant of arrest was issued against him following his failure to appear in court in a hate speech case.

“Matiangi used to order my arrest at night on 21/4/22, and was detained at Capitol Hill Police Station at 6 pm and later at Gigiri Police Station up to the following Monday despite court orders to the contrary,” said in a tweet.

He added, “What’s so special about him? Bado safari ni mbali alambe glucose”

Matiang’i’s Karen home was raided on Wednesday night, with an unknown number of police officers storming his residence.

Though the reason behind this remains unknown, his lawyers, led by Danstan Omari alleged that the officers intended to arrest Matiang’i.

Addressing the media outside Matiang’i’s home, lawyer Omari said his client’s life was in danger, adding that they were unaware of the motive behind the intended raid on the home.

“I can confirm that the life of Matiang’i is at risk. We don’t know the intention of wanting to invade Matiang’i’s home at this time of the night.

We don’t know what offence he has committed… Our client is ready to be summoned, and record a statement if they have anything to charge him with. My client is holed up as if he is a fugitive in his own country,” said Omari.
