Nation Media Group honored for outstanding devolution coverage

In recognition of its significant contribution in highlighting devolution issues within the country, Nation Media Group has received accolades at the Devolution Warrior Awards.

The media powerhouse secured the top position in the ‘Tai’ category for its balanced, robust, accurate, and professional coverage of devolution matters.

Cape Media claimed the first runner-up spot, while Royal Media Services clinched the second runner-up title in this category.

The awards encompassed seven categories: Tai, Ndovu, Chui, Kifaru, Njiwa, Simba, and Nyati. Former Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto emerged as the overall winner, securing victory in the ‘Simba’ category for his steadfast championing of policies aimed at addressing devolution challenges.

Vihiga County secured the second runner-up position in the ‘Simba’ category, and Adah Omedi was recognized as the first runner-up.

Dr Ruto emphasized the crucial role of the devolved governance system in bringing services closer to Kenyans and curbing tribalism within the nation.

In the ‘Njiwa’ category, Act!, an organization dedicated to peace-building, clinched the winner’s title, with Kiunga Youth earning the runner-up position.

The ‘Chui’ award acknowledged Creaw for its advocacy in promoting gender responsiveness and inclusivity in the country.

Integrated Development Facility (IDF) claimed victory in the ‘Ndovu’ category for its innovative approach to amplifying citizens’ voices in matters of devolution. Prof. Kivutha Kibwana, former Makueni County Governor, was recognized as the first runner-up.

In the ‘Kifaru’ category, Ms. Jedida Wanyeki of Green Works secured the win for her commendable efforts. Muranga County secured the first runner-up position, while MEPST was recognized as the second runner-up.

Finally, the ‘Nyati’ category celebrated Santa Sebastian’s exceptional performance.
