No more agony of fully booked SGR trains for weekend travellers
By EVELYNE MUSAMBIKenya Railways has caved in to calls for additional coaches on weekend trains plying the Mombasa-Nairobi route.
The company will now have five more economy coaches on its weekend trains to meet the high demand.
Kenya Railways managing director Atanas Maina said the coaches will be increased to 11 from 16 for economy class passengers.
The two first class coaches will however remain the same.
“We were studying travel trends and have noted demand is higher from Fridays,” said Mr Maina in an interview with the Business Daily.
By adding coaches, each trip will have 590 additional economy seats creating more convenience for passengers travelling on weekends.

Why don’t you introduce a night train? Better to have more frequencies than two long trains.

There is one thing you need to seriously think about: Make use of the two doors in each coach. Use one as exit and the other as entry. You will do embarking and disembarking concurrently
