Nairobians can rest easy because no heavy rains are expected for the rest of the month.

In the latest Kenya Meteorological Service forecast, the weather is expected to be cool and cloudy with occasional rains in parts of the city.

“Nairobi area is expected to experience occasional morning rains throughout the forecast period. Afternoon/evening showers will be experienced over few places for much of the forecast period,” reads part of the forecast.

Deputy Director Forecasting Services Peter Ambenje told Nairobi News that the amount of rains experienced in the city over the last two weeks has increased significantly.

“There is however a slight pick-up compared to what we had last week but we do not expect heavy rainfall that can result to flooding due to surface run-off,” said Mr Ambenje.

The city had in May and early June experienced heavy rains resulting in floods that swept parts of Nairobi West, Imara Daima and sections of Thika superhighway.

The weatherman had predicted increased rainfall in Nairobi in May and June but the county government failed to unclog drainages.
