Police detain retired military man in connection with assault on woman

Police in Lang’ata have detained a retired Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officer accused of assaulting a woman at a popular club within the estate.

Gun drama was also witnessed during the reported assault against one Mercy Tonui when Mr Geoffrey Kigen fired in the air to scare away revelers who were enjoying their night at Summers bar and restaurant in Lang’ata, Nairobi County.

In a police report seen by Nairobi News, the manager of the club identified as Mr Thoma Kisia reported the matter to the police who quickly rushed to the scene and made arrests.

“Thoma Kisia, the manager Summers bar, and restaurant reported that one of his customers just left the bar while beating and dragging a lady he had spent time with inside the bar,” the report read in part.

During the incident, Mr Kigen is said to have reached for his Ceska pistol and shot in the air dispersing an angry crowd that was building around him.

When police officers arrived at the scene of the crime they asked Ms Tonui to seek medical attention before filing a P3 form that will be used in the case against the retired KDF officer.

“She had sustained bloodstains on the lips and appeared dusty. Police officers asked her to seek medical attention,” the report further read.

According to the police the firearm had a license certificate number 0011662.
