A Tharaka Nithi politician who died at his home on Monday, January 9, 2023, had differences with his wife, police now say.

In a report filed at Karen Police Station and seen by this reporter, Ms. Mary Waigwe Muthoni, the wife to Mr. Francis Kiambi Kiriro, 50, years had differed on an Sh2 billion loan that the deceased wanted to use to start a business.

Ms. Muthoni said they arrived home at midnight after meeting with the family advocate at a joint within Karen Shopping Center. They were also with a relative.

“The couple had some domestic differences since Ms Muthoni had refused to guarantee the deceased a loan of Sh2 billion which he intended to take to open a business,” the police report read in part.

The couple on that night did not spend in the same room and each of them slept on their own separately.

Ms. Muthoni said that the deceased never woke up but she could hear him snoring loudly throughout the day and night and had even vomited inside the room he had spent his night in.

The following morning, the wife went to the room where the husband was sleeping to check up on him.

She told the police that she found him lying dead on the bed with some vomit beside the bed.

“They then called a doctor from Karen Hospital who confirmed the death at around 9AM. The scene was visited by the police and processed,” the police report further read, adding that he did not have any physical injuries.

The body was then moved to Lee Funeral Home for preservation and an autopsy.

The matter is being investigated by sleuths attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) at Karen Police Station.
