School cook could be Waldai Ward’s next MCA
By MWENDE KASUJJAA school cook in Kericho County will be vying for an elective seat after winning the Jubilee Party nominations.
Daniel Kibore Ngetich trounced the incumbent to clinch the ticket for the Waldai Ward in Belgut Constituency.
He garnered 2,250 votes after a door-to-door campaign. The incumbent, John Kipkoech Too, got 1,300 votes.
“I want to help my people especially the low income earners,” the cook said during a TV interview.
The father of two received a campaign boost from a well-wisher who printed his campaign posters.

“I used boda boda to access the villages and sometimes I would just walk as I had no money,” said Ngetich.
Mr Ngetich, who holds a Diploma in Business Technology, took up the kitchen job at Sosiot Girls Secondary School after failing to secure an office job.
The students love his cooking and say they will miss him if he goes to the county assembly.
“He truly deserves this seat because he will be making developmental ugali for us the residents,” said a resident of Waldai Ward.
For now, Ngetich will keep working at Sosiot Girls until the campaign period starts.
Waldai ward covers Kaborok, Sosiot, Kaptoboiti and Waldai Locations and has over 30,000 votes.
