Senator Gloria Orwoba hangs out with Prince Harry at Invictus Games
By Winnie OnyandoNominated Senator Gloria Orwoba has embarked on a unique journey to the United Kingdom to participate in the prestigious Invictus Games, shedding light on her profound purpose and the exciting prospects it brings for Kenya.
The Invictus Games, founded by Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex, and Patron of the Invictus Games Foundation, have gained international acclaim for their role in honoring wounded soldiers and restoring their dignity.
This year, Senator Orwoba has not only joined the event but is actively working to pave the way for Kenya’s involvement in the future.
Speaking to Nairobi News, Senator Orwoba revealed that her close friend, David Wiseman, the director of the Invictus Games, extended a personal invitation to her.
Wiseman’s vision is to recruit a Kenyan team into the games, and Senator Orwoba has eagerly taken on this challenge.
“I brought them to Parliament like two months ago, and then I spoke to the Minister of Defence, Aden Duale, and we are in the process of becoming members of the games,” Senator Orwoba explained. She hinted at Kenya’s impending participation, stating that Kenya will be part of the Invictus Games within the next two years.

These international adaptive sports competitions have previously been hosted in London (2014), Orlando (2016), Toronto (2017), Sydney (2018), and The Hague (2022).
The upcoming Games are scheduled to take place in Dusseldorf, Germany, from September 9-16, 2023, and in Vancouver and Whistler, Canada, in February 2025.
