Stewart Hall quits Leopards in wake of ‘rabbits’ rant
By NAIROBI NEWS REPORTERAFC Leopards coach Stewart Hall is on his way out of the club, barely six months after he was appointed to this role, Nairobi News can reveal.
According to close sources, the former Azam FC and Tanzania national youth team coach has already issued a quit notice to his employer.
He is formally expected to leave the giant club in two weeks time, precisely when the SportPesa Premier League club enters a three-week recess.
REASON IS PERSONAL
“He has explained to us that the reason for quitting is personal, and not at all linked to the club’s recent performances. Neither is he keen to take up another coaching offer anytime soon. He seems keen to return to his native Britain.” a senior official of the club who spoke to Nairobi News off the record explained.
Thus, the Englishman who won the league and Cecafa title with Azam and has also managed in India, is expected to be in charge of the club’s forthcoming two league games, starting with this weekend’s tie against Homeboyz in Kakamega County.
He enjoyed a mixed season at the club, punctuated with some impressive performances, but marred by the 3-0 drubbing by sworn rivals Gor Mahia, which was televised a few weeks ago.
Hall’s impending departure is said to be a big blow to the Leopards management.
Despite a highly publicisised rant two weeks ago, in which he referred to his own players as “rabbits”, Hall is considered a sober mind who has kept the team together despite several financial challenges looming in the background.
He is also credited with infusing a young squad of talented youngsters during a rebuilding process last December.
