Embattled Nairobi County Executive member in charge of Roads and Transport Mr Evans Ondieki has survived an ouster bid after the probe team investigating his conduct cleared him.

The five-member committee that sat for three days last week only confirmed one out of six charges leveled against him.

The committee chaired by Nyayo Highrise MCA Maurice Akuk only found Mr Ondieki guilty of skipping summons of the sectoral committee on Public Works and Transport chaired by  South C MCA Diana Kapeen.

Among the charges leveled against Mr Ondieki were that he had made allegations in the media imputing improper motive against MCAs that they had been bribed to block the urban mass transit project.

He was also accused of being rude and abusing MCAs by calling them hooligans.

The other charge was about misleading MCA to bring  lists of five priority roads in their wards knowing very well there was no budget for such a project.

The committee did not also find the minister guilty of gross misconduct as alleged in the motion filed by Ngara MCA Chege Mwaura.

Other members of the committee were  Anthony Karanja (Waithaka), Joash Omwenga (Utawala), Stephen Kambi (Dandora 2) AND Jaqueline Nyang’ala (Nominated).

Perhaps privy to the contents of the committee report, MCAs booed Mr Akuk before he presented the report.
