Thika businessman Esborn Macharia bags Sh27 million SportPesa midweek Jackpot

Esborn Macharia, who manages a hardware shop in Thika town, was all smiles after SportPesa staff awarded him a dummy cheque of Sh27,041, 645 on November 28, 2023.
The early Christmas gift for Macharia, a fan of Gor Mahia and Arsenal in the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) and English Premier League respectively, came after he placed a bet worth Sh99 and correctly predicted the outcome of 13 games on the midweek Jackpot on November 24, 2023.
“I have been playing with SportPesa for about one year now. I have won in the past, but this is the highest amount I have ever gotten. I didn’t even know that I had won this money at first because when I placed the bet, I failed to check on its progress,” said Macharia, while accompanied by his wife.
“On Saturday, SportPesa called to inform me that I am the winner. I was overwhelmed and up to today I’m still speechless,” the young businessman added.
Macharia, a father of three, has already hit the road on how he intends to spend the money. He has an uncompleted house that has reached the second floor and he is now focused on completing it.
“I have so many ongoing projects that I am taking care of. This Sh 27 million will go a long way in helping me to sort these out comfortably. My family and kids who are also in school will also be well taken care of after this win,” he added.
“This thing is real. I have won and I’m a millionaire now courtesy of SportPesa,” he says as he thanked Sportpesa for making him the latest millionaire in town.
Macharia has now followed in the footsteps of another Gor Mahia fan, 50-year-old Stephen Ojwang from Siaya County, who bagged Sh23 million in April 2022.
Other midweek Jackpot winners in 2023 are Seth Mokua who bagged Sh24, 665,485 on September 2.
Jackson Mutiso also won Sh20, 892,489 on June 6.
SportPesa are also the jersey sponsors of two Kenyan clubs namely Gor Mahia and Murang’a Seal in cumulative deals worth an estimated Sh100 million a year.
