Third suspect in businessman George Mwangi’s murder arrested
By Nyaboga KiageDetectives attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have a arrested a third suspect linked to the murder of Rwanda-based businessman Mr George Mwangi Kamau.
The arrested suspected has been identified as Mr John Muikiriria Mwangi who allegedly went missing on the same day when Mr Kamau disappeared. Mr Mwangi was arrested at Karinga Location in Gatundu South Sub-County with plans are underway to arraign him at the Kiambu Law Courts.
“The arrest follows comprehensive investigations conducted by sleuths from the homicide department, who took over investigations into the murder,” DCI said in a statement.

Detectives believe the deceased was murdered in his house before his body was dumped in Kieni Forest.
In an affidavit in court, detectives said they found pieces of blood stained metal rods, blood soaked bed sheets, stained curtains and clothing. All these have been kept as exhibits.
The other suspects who have been arrested in connection to the murder are Ms Gladys Njeri Mwangi alias Chania who was the wife of the deceased and Mr Moris Kamau Mbugua.

The suspects appeared before Kiambu High Court Judge Mary Kasango on November 2, 2022 and were charged with jointly murdering the late contractor who has since been buried. Mrs Mwangi and Mr Mbugua denied the charges.
Mrs Mwangi is currently being held at the Lang’ata Women’s Prison where she will stay for the next four months when an application to be released on bail will be heard while Mr Mbugua is held at the Kamiti Maximum Security Prison.
Mrs Mwangi had initially been released on a Sh1 million cash bail and a surety of a similar amount was not able to raise the funds.
