UPDATE: 87 patients escape from Mathari hospital as medics’ strike bites
By NAIROBI NEWS REPORTEREighty seven patients escaped from the Mathari Teaching and Referral Hospital in Nairobi on Monday at the start of a boycott by their doctors.
The hospital specialises in treatment of patients with mental conditions.
Details are still scant on the improbable escape at the hospital, but police have launched a manhunt for the missing patients.
Health workers in the city boycotted work to push the government to implement a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) signed in June 2013.
