An ex-convict has been arrested in Nyeri County after residents tipped off officers about his whereabouts.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said Peter Ndiritu Ndirangu alias Kimaitho, 35, is linked to cases of violent robbery, hawking, robbery, and phone snatching.

After he was flushed out of his hideout police searched him and found him with 12 sachets of heroin, 9 rolls of bhang, a machete, and two kitchen knives.

“Kamaitho was released from prison in December 2023 but has since been implicated in various attacks reported at Weitemere, Majengo, Kiawara, and Blue Valley areas of Nyeri,” DCI said.

“The ex-convict has been remanded at King’ong’o prison without the option of bail following his criminal record.”

In Nairobi, police are looking for suspects who stabbed a man to death in Huruma Nairobi.

Police were called on Tuesday morning after the body of Tobias Oyo, 45 was found on the roadside with visible stab wounds on the head and both sides of his chest.

According to his family, the deceased had left his house at 5 am to work when he was stabbed.

Police said the gang of four men was on a robbery spree targeting pedestrians headed for work and it is suspected the man resisted their orders prompting them to stab him.

The gang robbed him of his mobile phone before stabbing him to death but he still had Sh2,300 intact in his trousers.

Police at the scene reviewed security cameras which showed the four men escape towards the Mathere River direction after the incident while still armed with knives and crude weapons.

The body was moved to the mortuary pending autopsy and probe.
