Kenya international striker Micheal Olunga has become an instant hit with the fans of his new club in Japan following a Sh300 million deal in July.

Olunga moved to Kashiwa Reysol in a deal that reportedly earns him Sh15 million a month for the next three years and has wasted little time in getting down to serious business.

Olunga, who spent the 2017/2018 season on loan playing in Spain’s La Liga, scored on his home debut for Reysol during the team’s 5-2 thrashing of V-Varen Nagasaki in a Japanese League match at the Kashiwa Stadium in Hitachi on Saturday.

His goal came via a sweet left foot volley off a Junya Ito fantastic assist in the 93rd minute having come on as a second half substitute with his team already leading 3-1.

FANS’ SUPPORT

When the much ended, Olunga was overwhelmed after he was accorded a hero’s welcome by a section of fans who remained behind in the stadium to sing his praises.

And the Kenyan striker couldn’t resist the temptation.

He joined in, and with the help of a loudspeaker appreciated the fans’ support mentioning some few Japanese words he has learnt.

Olunga is expected to play a vital role when Kenya play host to Ghana in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Nairobi on September 8, 2018.
