Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Michael Adebayo Olayinka, widely recognized as Ruger, has always believed in the age-old adage that “imitation is the best form of flattery.”

Consequently, he is now making headlines for his gracious acknowledgment and admiration of his Kenyan impersonator, known on the streets as Ruger wa Kayole.

Ruger’s hit track ‘Girlfriend’ and others were recently been brought to life on stage by his Kenyan counterpart, Ruger Wa Kayole.

In an interview with BBC Entertainment, Ruger expressed his complete acceptance of his Kenyan look-alike, acknowledging the effort Ruger wa Kayole has put into his act.

Ruger, celebrated for chart-toppers like ‘Bounce’ and ‘Girlfriend,’ displayed remarkable humility and goodwill toward his impersonator.

The conversation unfolded as Ruger responded to the host’s inquiries about the Kenyan sensation.

“Fake Ruger is enjoying your life right now, I don’t know if you are aware, bro. He’s actually booked to perform at shows…listen bro. He’s in Kenya, you know? Are you aware? Fake Ruger is in Kenya, a great impersonator, and he’s already been booked to perform shows in Kenya,” the host informed Ruger.

With a genuinely understanding and compassionate tone, Ruger replied, “I mean, I’m happy for him, I wish him well.”

The host, seemingly intrigued by Ruger’s reaction, inquired further, “Yeah? I know artists that would shut that down.”

Ruger, however, chose the path of empathy and support for his doppelganger.

He explained that Ruger wa Kayole was merely trying to make a living, just like anyone else.

The award-winning artist also acknowledged Ruger wa Kayole’s role in promoting his music and boosting his career by performing his songs during shows.

“No, no, no. He’s making his P’s. Everybody must eat because when my people were telling me, ‘Have you seen this?’ – No, but I say the man’s just tryna hustle, you understand.

He’s promoting my songs in a way because he’s not making his songs and saying that’s Ruger who made the songs; he’s singing mine. At the end of the day, they’ll go back to their house and stream the songs. That’s the most important thing. I beg everybody should calm down,” Ruger added with a smile.
