Amputee federation laments shoddy organization
The Amputee Football Federation of Africa (Affa) has lamented at the treatment of players and officials at the fourth Africa Cup of Nations for Amputees.
“When giving Kenya the hosting rights we were assured that the tournament will be played at a stadium of international standards, and that everything was already catered for,” said Habiba Lamido, Vice President of AFFA.
The tournament was initially to be hosted at the Nyayo Stadium, but its dates clash with the Cecafa Challenge Cup and the lack of funds forced the Kenya Federation of Amputee Football to shift the venue City Stadium.
Shortage of funds have marred the tournament, with the host team being forced to play without food for two days and players threatening to boycott the tournament owing to unpaid allowances.
