Andrew Kibe: Kenyan LGBTQ+ is a fake community with no good intentions

By Winnie Mabel January 18th, 2023 2 min read

Controversial social media influencer and media personality Andre Kibe has said the LGBTQ+ community has no good intentions for Kenya in the wake of the murder of gay activist and fashion designer Edwin Kiptoo alias Chiloba.

The former radio presenter made the claims even as he demanded to know where all the known LGBTQ+ voices were when the late Chiloba was being buried in Sergoit Village in Elgeyo Marakwet County after using his death to initially claim it was a crime targeted at the queer community before going on to say it was not illegal to be gay in Kenya.

“I have not seen the LGBTQ community at Edwin Chiloba’s burial. Are you seeing any flags? LGBTQ is where?” Kibe posed as he played a video from Chiloba’s burial.

“The LGBTQ came out to try and make it look like it was a hate crime against the community but now I’m looking at this video and wondering, where is Makena (Njeri), where were all these LGBTQ people? This guy was buried by his family and that was it. So it was an agenda. They were pushing an agenda. They wanted the country to burn. These people have no food intentions for us. They are mischievous. Where is Michelle Ntalami? Didn’t they know the directions to go to Chiloba’s home?” Kibe asked.

He also went on to claim that members of the queer community are taking advantage of this murder to push their own agenda because there should have been a very big representation of the LGBTQ community at the funeral and burial of the late Chiloba. He also called out Sauti Sol for not being present considering one of their band members identifies in the queer community.

Nairobi News previously reported that Michelle Ntalami said she had paid tribute to the late Chiloba in her own way after she attended a vigil organized in memory of the deceased. She revealed this as she clapped back at Kenyans who demanded to know why she had failed to attend the burial despite being the most vocal member of the queer community to speak about her relationship with Chiloba.

“This is a fake community. They only have an agenda and the agenda is to destroy. We have now known what this community is doing. You don’t want to build, you don’t want to help anybody or do anything, your agenda is just to destroy,” Kibe said.

Mr Jacktone Odhiambo, a man believed to have been the late Chiloba’s lover, is the main suspect in the murder case. The late Chiloba’s body was found stuffed in a large metallic box that had been dumped by the roadside on the outskirts of Eldoret town in Uasin Gishu County.

An autopsy report revealed that Chiloba’s eyes had been gouged out and three pairs of stockings stuffed into his mouth. A denim material also covered his nose when the box was finally opened by the police.
