Anto Neosoul: Why I abruptly ended live interview with CKay
A live interview of Nigerian song writer and singer Chukwuka Ekweani aka CKay came to an abrupt end on Nation FM’s Drive show on Monday as it appeared the artiste was not in the mood to answer the questions posed to him.
Some of the answers he gave came across as know-it-all, short and clipped. The feeling in the studio was that CKay wasn’t fully engaging his interviewer Anto Neosoul, even as he threw in one or two insights and tidbits about his music creation process.

Later, when the show resumed from a break, CKay, 27, the Love Nwatiti hitmaker, was not in the studio. Anto Neosoul took the opportunity to explain why the interview ended abruptly, saying that CKay was tired and probably not feeling the interview
“I know some of you are probably wondering what happened to the CKay interview. You were excited, I had all these questions, all these things to ask him and then all of a sudden he was not in studio. Well, what’s the best way to put this… I think he was tired and just not feeling it. To me, you can take a cow to the river to drink water but you cannot make it drink the water,” Anto Neosoul explained.

“I tried guys. I tried to get CKay to drink the water from the river but he was just not feeling it so I had to abruptly end the interview. But it is what it is. It is the only interview, ever, in my life that I’ve had to end abruptly because maybe… just the attitude. I’ve interviewed the likes of Femi Kuti, Femi Lay to Pheelz Finesse, to every single person like Yemi Alade, Victoria Kimani – everyone you can think about, I’ve interviewed but today, mh mh, it is what it is,” he added.
CKay, who also refers to himself as Africa’s Boyfriend, is also renowned for the hits Mmadu, By Now and Watawi.
