KCPE results to be released Tuesday
Results of 46,232 candidates who sat the national Standard Eight exams in Nairobi county will be released on Tuesday alongside results for other counties.
Education Cabinet Secretary Jacob Kaimenyi is set to release the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination results on Tuesday morning.
Nairobi County has the highest number of candidates, with 46,232 followed by Nakuru with 42,890.
Others counties with a higher candidature include Kiambu (37,902), Kakamega (37, 617) and Kitui (32,000). Machakos County has 30,398 candidates, Makueni (27,699), Kilifi (27,074) and Kisii (26,597).
In a departure from the tradition, this year will see the schools being ranked according to counties.
Until last year, the best and worst institutions were being listed according to provinces.
Kenya National Examinations Council Secretary Paul Wasanga said candidates can access their results by logging on to the council’s website www.knec.ac .ke and keying in their index numbers.
They will also be able to receive their results through mobile phones – via SMS code 6062 soon after they have been announced.
But the schools calendar, which officially starts next week, could be thrown into disarray after the Kenya National Union of Teachers secretary-general Wilson Sossion said they would go on strike if the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) fails to upgrade its 53,000 members by the end of Monday.
