Assault suspect says he’s in trouble for ending affair with older woman

A 25-year-old man charged at the Makadara law courts with assaulting his 38-year-old lover claimed that the dispute between them started when he told her he wants to end the relationship.

Peter Mwaniki Wambura was accused of assaulting Annah Ndinda Makanga on September 19 in Kiambiu, Eastleigh, occasioning her actual bodily harms.

But he denied the charges and told chief magistrate Heston Nyaga that Makanga is bitter with him for opting out of their affair.

Wambura said the woman is older and he wants to start a family but she does not want him to leave.

He said they have been in a secret affair for some time and that Makanga has been taking his Sh1,000 which he receives from the government as support as an orphan.

Wambura and Makanga fought in public after the latter asked the former why he had slapped her child.

The suspect is said to have knocked down Makanga with a fist and used a water pipe to assault her before a passer-by intervened.

Wambura was released on Sh 15, 000 cash bail. The case will be mentioned on October 16.
