20 killed in Nairobi’s Westgate attack
A least 20 people were killed and 50 others injured on Saturday afternoon after gunmen attacked Nairobi’s shopping mall.
Elite squads from the Kenyan Military, the police and United States’ FBI surrounded the building and mounted an operation to flush out the gunmen.
The Westgate centre is one of Nairobi’s most exclusive shopping mall frequented by expatriates.
The motive of the attack is not yet clear.
An eyewitness told Nairobi News that the attackers are all hooded and may include a woman
Frank Musungu, a military officer who was among the shoppers, said the attackers are in “their prime age” and include “a woman who is hooded just like her accomplices.”
