Azimio plans Raila grand march from JKIA to Kibera

Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition has announced a mega reception of its leader Mr Raila Odinga April 28, 2023.

Mr Odinga has been out of the country and is expected back ahead of the resumption of anti-government demonstrations scheduled for May 2, 2023.

A statement from Opiyo Wandayi, Azimio Minority Leader in the National Assembly, explained Mr Odinga will be accorded a grand reception before heading to Kibra constituency where he will make his address at the people’s baraza.

“The Kibra People’s Baraza will also set the stage for the peaceful mass action that is set to resume in Nairobi on May 2nd 2023, as earlier announced,” part of the statement reads.

The party has urged its supporters to turn up in large numbers, as they will be issuing their plans for May.

Mr Odinga will return amid collapsed Bi-partisan agreement talks between the government and opposition as the two sides failed to agree on the inclusion of some members to both sides.

Azimio wants the removal of Jubilee Party MP Adan Keynan from the Kenya Kwanza side, while President William Ruto’s side protests the inclusion of Kenya Union Party (KUP) MP David Pkosing to the Azimio team.

The fate of the agreement now lies in the hands of the President and opposition leader.

So far, Azimio has informed Nairobi Central Police Station OCS in writing of its intent to demonstrate in Nairobi on March 2, 2023.

Mr Oparanya said that their processions will take place in the major streets of Moi Avenue, Kenyatta Avenue, Haile Selassie Avenue, and Harambee Avenue from dawn to dusk.
