SportPesa pledge Sh1million to All Stars team for victory over Hull City


Kenya’s SportPesa All Stars team that will face Hull City in a friendly match next week stands to reap millions if they beat the English Premier League club.

Sponsors SportPesa have pledged a Sh1.1 million cash prize to the team should they win the game on February 27 at the KCOM Stadium in Hull, Sh500,000 for any kind of draw, and a bounty of Sh100,000 for any goal scored during the game.

The team is currently in residential training at the Moi International Sports Center, Kasarani where they will remain until their travel date on Wednesday February 22.

Meanwhile, youthful Gor Mahia midfielder Amos Nondi says he is excited about the opportunity to play in Europe and against an English Premier League team, and he sees the match as an opportunity to showcase his talent and potential to any oversees scouts.

BEST PERFORMANCE

“For me this is not just a friendly match. I know that my career could change drastically and so I am taking it very seriously. I plan to produce my best performance not just for the money, but so that I can impress any suitors that may be watching the game. You never know, I could get a chance to play for a European team just from this match,” he told Saturday Nation Sports on Friday at Kasarani.

The SportPesa All Stars team reported to camp on Wednesday and are scheduled to remain in camp until February 22 when they leave for Hull via London.

Coach Okumbi currently has a full squad with the exception of four players from Tusker and Ulinzi Stars whose teams are preparing for this weekend’s CAF competitions.

Ulinzi’s 20-year old winger Cliff Kasuti was however been allowed to train with the team s he isn’t registered for the CAF Confederation Cup.

TRAVELING PARTY

His team mate John Makwatta will only join the All Stars camp this evening after the match against Libyan side Al Hilal Benghazi.

The Tusker trio of James Situma, David Okello and Allan Wanga will however remain absent for three more days, as they are currently in Mauritius for their return match of the CAF Champions League match against AS Port Louis.

The friendly match against Hull City will be played on February 27 at the KCOM Stadium in Hull, and the return match is slated for July this year at Kasarani.
