Betty Kyallo’s ‘bubbly’ weekend speech sparks online controversy

A video capturing media personality Betty Kyallo appearing seemingly intoxicated and struggling to address the audience during the Senator Allan Chesang Foundation Super League Finals in Trans-Nzoia has gone viral, causing a stir online.

Betty was among the guests present at the Super League Finals held on Saturday, November 25, at the Kitale National Polytechnic Institute in Trans-Nzoia County.

The video, shared widely on social media, shows Betty Kyallo attempting to speak to the spectators but facing difficulty in calming an unruly crowd.

Despite her efforts, Betty encouraged the audience to channel their talents into meaningful pursuits.

Notable politicians, including Speaker of the National Assembly Moses Wetangula, were in attendance at the tournament.

This incident is not the first time Betty Kyallo has been seen in public appearing ‘tipsy’.

In March 2020, she went live on social media, expressing her frustrations about her workplace while acknowledging having had a drink.

At that time, Betty defended her right to enjoy herself and dismissed critics who labeled her as a role model.

“My family is very protective over me, and they are like Betty, why are you going live right now… I’ve had a drink, and people are saying you cannot have this much fun because you are a role model. Forget that! I take care of my jobs. Ivanna, I’m her role model. You are my daughter’s role model, so don’t go to the club. I want to go to the club, I want to have a good time. The pressure in this career is horrible,” Betty exclaimed in the video.

Online reactions to the recent video have been mixed, with Abdulahi Adan cautioning against “drinking and driving a mic on your mouth” and referencing Betty Kyallo’s recent video.

Nairobi News attempted to reach out to Betty Kyallo for comment, but calls went unanswered as of the time of reporting.
