Beware! Breathalysers still very much in operation
Its tough luck if you are motorist who was banking on the apparent absence of breathalysers to have a ‘good’ drink this weekend and drive yourself home.
The National Transport Safety Authority (NTSA) has rubbished claims that have been doing the rounds on social media that they have run out of breathalysers.
@ntsa_kenya Ooooh sure? It’s been a while without seeing you on the roads though…

The rumours had been fueled by the conspicuous absence of NTSA officers along major Nairobi roads this past week.
And true to character, Kenyans, made the subject a trending topic Twitter. This is what prompted NTSA to respond with the tweet:
We would like to clarify that we have not ran out of breathalyser & our operations are ongoing,we continue being committed to #RoadSafety.

Kenyan motorists have in the past formed Twitter groups to alert each other which road routes to avoid while drinking drunk.
@ntsa_kenya Oooh noo, how i wish you ran short of them for a year or so.
