Bizarre: Nairobi-bound passengers abandoned in Kericho by bus driver
Police in Kericho County are currently investigating an incident in which a driver and his conductor abandoned a bus full of passengers in the middle of the road. The incident took place on Saturday, October 21, 2023.
According to a police report seen by Nairobi News, one of the passengers, Ms Lucy Waithera, reported the incident to the police attached to the Ainamoi Police Station. She detailed that they had boarded a Scania Bus with registration number KCF876V belonging to T.C.B Sacco from Busia to Nairobi at around 2 pm.
As the bus reached the Sitowet Area, the driver abruptly stopped the vehicle in the middle of the road and both the driver and the tout disappeared, leaving the passengers stranded. The passengers were forced to sleep inside the bus until the following day when they reported the incident to the police.
Upon receiving the report, police officers from the Ainamoi Police Station arrived at the scene and asked all passengers to disembark. The vehicle was then towed to the police station.
Some passengers recorded statements with the police, while others urged the sacco’s management to provide them with an alternative bus to continue their journey.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has taken over the investigation, and they are examining the bus to determine whether the individuals involved were carrying anything illegal.
In a separate incident in Molo, Nakuru County, a fatal road accident occurred on the night of Saturday, October 21, 2023. The accident took place at the Twin Bridge Area along the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway.
