Singer Bobi Wine wins parliamentary seat in Uganda


Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine has won the Kyadondo East by-election in Uganda. He polled 25, 659 votes in a landslide victory.

Nkunyingi Muwada got 575, NRM’s Sitenda Sebalu polled 4,556 while FDC’s Apollo Kantinti managed 1,832. Mr Sowed Kayongo Male came last with 377 votes.

Bobi Wine, who ran as an independent candidate, received congratulatory messages.

Former presidential candidate for the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party, Kizza Besigye tweeted: “Landslide victory for the HE Bobi Wine.  Congratulations-PEOPLE POWER!! That’s why Wakiso people weren’t allowed to vote 2016.

The Executive Director, Uganda Media Centre, Ofwono Opondo also tweeted: “So @HEBobiwine is beating everyone @NRMOnline @FDCOfficial1 hands down in #KyodondoEastByElections, Congs although still early.”
