Boda boda protests hit Athi River town
Major roads leading into and out of Athi River town remain impassable as motorcycle riders continue to engage police in running battles after 30 motorcycle were seized by the authorities for flouting of traffic rules.
Eye witnesses at the scene said that the violence started soon after the bicycles were seized on Friday at midday.
The skirmishes were sparked off after National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) officials seized the motorbikes with the help of the police.
This irked the boda boda riders who barricaded the road. They also blocked a section of Mombasa road.
The boda boda riders are demanding that their motorbikes be released.
