Boni Khalwale asks US to ‘keep off’ deceased LGBTQ Edwin Chiloba murder case

Boni Khalwale has waded into the controversial death of LGBTQ activist Edwin Chiloba by warning the United States of America (USA) to keep off the issue.

The Kakamega Senator also suggested, in a tweet, that the Western world is wrongly influencing African youth to pick up peculiar habits.

“If African governments are looking for who is destroying the long-respected African social fabric amongst our youth, look no further. The USA, keep off our children. Please,” he wrote.

Khalwale, a polygamous husband and father to many, was reacting to an announcement by the USA that it is willing to help investigate Chiloba’s murder.

The United States Department of State spokesman Ned Price affirmed that the President Joe Biden-led administration will offer any assistance needed to ensure justice is delivered.

“Ultimately the ultimate act of intolerance has no place in free and open societies. We made the point last week that we urge and expect the Kenyans to conduct a thorough and transparent investigation into his death. And of course, if there’s anything we can do to assist, we stand ready to do that, said Price.

Chiloba’s body was discovered stuffed in a metallic box in Kipkenyo, Eldoret, on Wednesday, January, 4, 2023 as eyewitnesses reported seeing unknown assailants drop off the metallic box by the roadside before speeding off.

The deceased had his eyes gouged out, with preliminary investigations indicating that he died of strangulation.

Police have so far arrested five people in connection with his death. They include Mr Jacktone Odhiambo, Mr Dennis Litali and three minors.

The deceased’s family refuted reports he was gay, describing him as a dedicated Christian since secondary school.

“We are perturbed by what we are hearing on social media that he was involved in ungodly practices,” his cousin, Ms Gaudencia Tanui
