Boniface Mwangi apologizes over Kipchumba Murkomen’s sex tape gaffe
Political activist Boniface Mwangi has apologized to Elgeyo-Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen over an erroneous tweet he had sent alleging that the Jubilee politician had a sex tape.
In a tweet early Thursday morning, Mwangi claimed he had been misled.
“There was no Murkome sex tape. I was misled. My apologies for embarrassment caused to him and his family. I have since deleted that tweet,” he tweeted.
Murkomen appeared to have accepted the apology in a series of tweets to his followers.
“Today @bonifacemwangi has apologised on his TL&though he didn’t do it directly to me I take it as retraction of the false allegations (sic),” he tweeted.
Murkomen then recounted the events that led to the apology.
“On Monday 7:45 am one @bonifacemwangi alleged that I support Jubilee because the government blackmailed me with a sex tape. I was shocked,” he said.
“As a result of @bonifacemwangi allegations I received calls from my concerned immediate family members, in laws, friends & supporters (sic).”
He added: “I felt a strong urge to revenge but my wife and I discussed the way forward and jointly agreed to leave it to God!.”
