Boniface Mwangi launches his political party with an odd symbol – PHOTOS


Activist Boniface Mwangi on Monday launched the Ukweli Party which will be his political outfit in his bid for the Starehe parliamentary seat in the forthcoming election.

The party has picked an odd symbol,  a sugarcane, chosen because of party’s ambition to fight for a sweet Kenya.

“We want a Kenya that’s free of corruption. Where the corrupt belong behind bars,” Mr Mwangi told journalists.

The slogan of the party is “Power to the people”.

The party seeks to cultivate participatory democracy beyond mere participation in elections but in the day to day governance.

Mr Mwangi said the party will not have a presidential candidate, but will filed candidates for parliamentary and ward seats.

“We want MPs to be paid less money and we don’t want people being cleared to vie only through certificate of good conduct while ignoring chapter six of the Constitution,” he said.
