Brave Isaac Mwaura shows off surviving triplet after losing two others
Nominated Senator Isaac Mwaura has revealed the face of his surviving child after losing two of his triplets after birth.
The triplets were delivered premature and were kept in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit for 11 weeks before two of them died.
Baby Mwaura, Njiru and Njeri were born when their mother was 28 weeks pregnant.
The deaths happened as their father battled it out in the Jubilee party nominations for the Ruiru parliamentary seat.
The couple seems to have put the dark cloud behind them now. On Monday evening, Senator Mwaura shared a photo of his baby boy and wife captioning, the young one as a “fighter boy.”
TRAUMATIZING EXPERIENCE
Mrs Mukami Mwaura, in her blog, had described the traumatizing experience of meeting her tiny triplets at the intensive care unit for the first time and detailed how she cried and was in denial.
“NICU is an awful place but it’s also a place where you learn a lot, NICU is a room filled with the smallest fighters. There is a lot of defeat and winning. For the 11 weeks my babies stayed in the NICU, I watched the tiniest people fight harder than I have ever seen. They fought to breath and to live, it was a fight against death. Some won the fight while others lost the fight but we still celebrate them because in the short or long time they lived, they left a great impact in our lives,” she wrote in her blog.
The couple has been sharing their journey to encourage other parents with children who were delivered prematurely.
