Bruce Odhiambo under fire over delayed payments

Kenya’s top boy band Sauti Sol and gospel singer Rufftone are among artistes who are crying foul at the Kenya @50 secretariat’s delay to pay their performance fees for six months now.

They were among artistes who performed at the Safaricom Stadium, Kasarani, on December 12, as Kenya celebrated 50 years of independence last year.

On Wednesday, Sauti Sol aired their frustrations on twitter when they asked President Uhuru why they are yet to be paid six months after the performance.

“We have written several letters to the secretariat but in vain,” said a member of Sauti Sol. Rufftone, who performed his hit song Mungu Baba during the celebrations, says that he is tired of asking for the money.

“We were supposed to be paid immediately after the performance. Six months down the line, we are yet to receive even a single penny,” Rufftone told Off the Hook.

According to the artistes, they were contracted by Bruce Odhiambo, who was then dealing with all the performances. Off the Hook could not reach Bruce by yesterday for a comment since all his phones were off.
