Burglars steal Victor Wanyama’s Sh8m car after break-in
Burglars broke into Harambee Stars captain Victor Wanyama’s house in England Monday night and stole property worth millions of shillings including his Range Rover SUV, sources have told Nairobi News.
The intruders are believed to have taken advantage of the player’s absence at the time as he was away on club duty.
Wanyama was featuring for his club Southampton FC in the 1-1 draw away to Aston Villa at Villa Park in an English Premier League match on Monday evening.
The game ended at around 10 p.m. UK time (1 a.m. Kenyan time).
RANGE ROVER STOLEN
According to the club rules, all players are supposed to arrive a day prior to the club engagement and spend the night as a team in camp at a hotel. They are released after the game.
A close family member of Wanyama confirmed to Nairobi News that amongst the items stolen during the robbery include his Range Rover car (pictured) worth about Sh8 million, three television sets amongst other electronics.
He also lost about 30 pairs of shoes and designer clothes, amongst other household goods.
“It seems the thieves had ample time considering he was not in the house. They turned the house upside down and (Wanyama) is still in shock. The police have been called in and investigations have started.” a close family member told Nairobi News.
Wanyama is one of Kenya’s highest earners, with a net salary of about sh. 15 million a month.
