Cash, electronics stolen in guarded city residence occupied by Chinese


Police in Nairobi are investigating a peculiar robbery where four Chinese nationals are claiming they were robbed of money and valuables at their Karen residence that is guarded by armed police officers.

The four who work for the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) said they were woken up on Thursday night by five masked men armed with a short gun who robbed them.

The victims told police they lost more than Sh15 million both in Kenya shillings and US dollars. They also said they lost laptops and wrist watches.

Surprisingly, when the police visited the said house located near Kasuku road in Karen, they found nothing had been broken and suspect the intruders gained the residence through a door.

Police officers who were guiding the residence said they did not hear any commotion.

ARRESTED

In Parklands, a foreigner was on Thursday arrested after he could not pay his hotel bill.

According to police report the Indian national checked at Sky Hotel on July 13, 2017 and had by the time of his arrest incurred a bill of Sh132,120 which he was unable to pay.

Police have also said Mr Girish Wadweker will be charged for obtaining credit by way of accommodation and food. He will also face a different charge for attempting to obtain Sh279 million by false pretense from one Ashok Kumar Rupish Shah.

In another case also involving a foreigner, a Canadian national reported to the police the loss of a Ceska pistol which he had left in his car on Thursday morning in Langata.

The firearm went missing after the man went for his morning prayers. The pistol was loaded with 16 rounds of ammunition. Police are yet to arrest anyone.
