Cheeky Kenyan ‘steals’ airtime online

A quick thinking Kenyan outsmarted a user who had shared an unused Safaricom’s Sh250 airtime voucher online with the intention of engaging other users is a guessing game.

Evans Bett shared a photo of a scratched voucher with the last two digits unrevealed and he asked users to guess the two digits.

As some users went on with the game and placed their wild guesses, a cheeky Kenyan had already given the serial number of the voucher to Safaricom and received the Sh250 airtime.

One David latr tweeted Safaricom to ask for help with a ‘damaged voucher’ only to be told that it had been credited by another subscriber.

The airtime guessing game has in the past been used by State House Digital Director Dennis Itumbi to reward his fans online on a first come, first served basis.

Itumbi often takes a photo of scratched vouchers and shares it online for users to feed the numbers and win the airtime.
