By Titus Ominde February 26th, 2024 2 min read

Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei wants Azimio leader Raila Odinga to pledge his loyalty to President William Ruto so as to get full support towards his aspiration of becoming the chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC).

Speaking at Tapsgoi AIC church during a fundraising for 22 churches in Turbo Sub County Mr Cherargei said if Mr Odinga was be assured of full support from Kenya Kwanza, he must first of all express his loyalty to president Ruto as well as apologizing to Kenyans who lost their beloved ones during 2023 demonstrations organized by Azimio leaders

“As Kenya Kenya Kwanza brigade we are ready to support Mr Odinga for coveted AUC seat but he must first confirm his loyalty to president Ruto and apologize to families of Kenyans who lost live and property during 2023 protest by Azimio la Umoja followers,” said Mr Cherargei.

Mr Cherargei said Mr Odinga must be remorseful of loss of lives, destruction of public properties and deterioration of the country’s economy during anti-government demonstrations.

Mr Cherarge said the only person who holds the destiny of Mr Odinga in AUC is president William Ruto and he must respect him and ask for forgiveness.

He sarcastically told Mr Odinga that some of the leaders who masqueraded as his friends have attempted to scuttle his ambition of securing the seat.

He further told Azimio leaders to respect president Ruto even as he continues to support Odinga on the seat.

“Led all Azimio leaders respect president William Ruto even as he has affirmed his support to Mr Odinga on the AUC seat. They must go slowly and respect president Ruto if they mean good to Mr Raila,” said added M,Cherargei.

While declaring his interest in the seat last month Mr Odinga said he is ready to serve as the AUC chair, having previously held the position of AU High Representative for Infrastructure.

“I am inclined to accept the challenge and I am ready and I offer myself to be of service. I have asked my friend (Former Nigerian president Olusegun Obasanjo to continue to be a good ambassador and talk to other people,” Mr Odinga said
