Citizen TV news anchor Lulu Hassan has opened up about suffering an injury while on an assignment in Kisumu in 2010 that made her walk with the aid of plate inserted on her left femur for the past seven years.

She informed her followers of this incident after she underwent another surgery on Monday to remove the plate. Lulu recalled the heart wrenching moment when she had to go to theatre seven years ago not knowing if I would ever walk again.

“April 19th 2010 I remember this day like it was yesterday… I was going for an assignment in Kisumu but on reaching Kapkatet it all happened so fast, I found myself at the Siloam Hospital in Kericho first aid was being administered,” said Lulu.

WALKING STYLE

“Next thing I knew I was in the ambulance on my way to Nairobi for an emergency theatre at the Aga Khan Hospital. The next few months would be tough. If you would have asked me then if I thought I would be able to walk or be on my feet again, I wouldn’t have imagine that was possible,” she said.

She says that sometimes she suffered excruciating pain when lying down and also interfered with her posture and walking style.

“Seven years that saw my walking style and body posture change completely thus affecting my back and work not forgetting the excruciating pain I would have to endure whenever I wanted to lie down.”

Lulu also offered to donate the plate to an elderly patient who is need of the proximal femur locking plate, and cannot afford it.
