City Hall receives ‘mitumba’ fire engines from Japan – PHOTOS
Nairobi County on Tuesday received a donation of four second-hand fire engines from the government of Japan.
The four fire engines, three fire engines with water tanks and one with a chemical fire engine, were handed over to Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero by the Ambassador of Japan, Mr Toshitsugu Uesawa.
The engines cost the Japanese government approximately Sh200 million. It will also provide technical training for handling of the engines.
“Nairobi has witnessed recurrent incidences of fire in the recent past that has led to loss of lives and property. This donation by the Japanese Government will greatly advance our fire fighting efforts in the city in addition to the six fire engines which are all working but the demand is higher. The new addition will help bridge the gap,” Governor Kidero said.
