City Hall launches monthly clean-ups to deal with garbage menace
Nairobi County government has launched a monthly clean-up in different parts of the city together with private companies in a bid to address garbage problem.
Speaking at the launch of a clean up exercise in Upper Hill which involved over 15 companies on Saturday, City Hall’s director of water and sanitation Mario Kainga said there was need to create awareness on waste disposal among the residents.
“The environmental challenges faced by Nairobians are as a result of what we are doing about our economic activities such as generating waste that in turn, poses us health risks,” said Mr Kainga.
Wendy Kawira of the Upper Hill Resident Association secretariat said this was the first time the group had been mobilised to undertake such an initiative.
