Nairobi Members of County Assembly (MCAs) have been robbed during a committee meeting in Mombasa.

The MCAs lost their valuables Friday while on lunch break at the Sai Rock Hotel where the meeting was taking place.

The 17 MCAs of the Energy and ICT committee, a clerk and the facilitator lost laptops, which had been left in the conference room.

It is not clear why the MCAs were holding a committee meeting Mombasa.

BOOKED FOR TWO DAYS

Speaking on phone, Karura MCA Joseph Wambugu said that they had booked the hotel for two days.

He said that they had finshed the morning section and left the laptops on top of the table while some had left bags under their seats. They were all ransacked.

“All the laptops that we left on the tables and money in the bags some of the members had kept under the seats has been stolen. We need the hotel to give us our valuables,” said Mr wambugu.

He added that they suspect an inside job, claiming that the hotel’s workers could have colluded with some women dressed in hijab and carrying children to undertake the robbery.

He said several conferences are being conducted at the facility which is fully booked, making it hard for anybody to suspect something.

However, Nairobi News is yet to get official communication from the hotel over the incident.

According to a review Trip Advisor on the hotel, most people have had bad experiences with lost items and money.
