City resident in court to have public toilets fees scrapped

By MAUREEN KAKAH January 23rd, 2017 1 min read

A Nairobi voter has moved to court seeking orders to stop authorities from charging members of the public for using public toilet facilities.

Mr Adrian Kamotho Njenga on Monday sued the Council of Governors (CoG), Kenya National Highway Authority (KeNHA)and the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (Kura) for obstructing the public from using toilet facilities.

He argued that by charging fees for pulic toilet facilities, the sued parties have refused to adequately provide reasonable standards of sanitation as stipulated in the law.

He also claimed that it is degrading and inhuman to deny citizens basic sanitary and hygienic facilities on account of lacking monies to pay for that service.
