Coca-Cola to probe sale of milky Dasani water in Nairobi

A Nairobi resident who bought a bottle of Dasani water that later turned milky has raised alarm on the safety standards of the product sold by beverage giant Coca-Cola.

Entertainer Kriss Darlin, who runs the Dohty Family entertainment company, posted an image of the sealed bottle full of milky water on Twitter and Instagram, explaining how he bought the water on Sunday.

Apparently the water was clear at the time of purchase but mysteriously changed colour a day later, when his daughter almost consumed it, but brought it to his attention after seeing the change of colour.

“..so I bought DASANI WATER yesterday and when my daughter took it to drink she found out its NOT like normal water and its WHITE in colour…brought it to me and it’s had turned colour… thank GOD she didn’t take it… HOW SAFE is our WATER ???…..tag DASANI & COCA-COLA,” he wrote.

Dasani international responded on Twitter asking the consumer to call their headquarter’s direct line.

Kriss Darlin however responded by stating that he was in Kenya and could not understand why he had to make an international call.

Coca-Cola has since issued a statement on the matter, stating that it had contacted the affected customer to get more information and resolve the matter.

“Coca-Cola has noted the complaint from a consumer who purchased a bottle of Dasani in a retail store in Nairobi yesterday. Our consumers are at the heart of everything we do and we assure our consumers that all our products go through stringent quality checks during our manufacturing processes,” stated the statement in part.

The company added that investigations had started to find out the retailer who distributed the product so as to establish what went wrong.

“We have been in contact with the consumer and have instituted investigations aimed at establishing facts relating to this incident and resolution of this incident,” stated the company.
