Concert to raise money for starving Kenyans set for next month
Kenyans will get a chance to shake a leg for a worthy cause during the ‘Hunger Relief Concert’ that will take place on April 15 at the August 7th Memorial Park in Nairobi.
The concert is organized by the Kenya Red Cross, musicians and bands, local media houses and a group of event organizers.
It is part of an initiative that aims at providing food and cash donation to the more than three million Kenya who are facing starvation.
There will be a three-week drive in the run up to the concert which will have live performances from various Kenya artistes including Sage, Makadem and Kalahi.
Mathewmatix’s Entertainment Director Mathew Rabala, who is one of the organisers of the drive, said there is the need for Kenyans to come together in response to this crisis.
“The initiative’s mission is to increase awareness and support through the sharing of great music. This is for people in the country who are struggling with food insecurity, and also to teach musicians about the importance of utilizing their art for service in their communities,” said Mr Rabala.
Amyn Manji of Project 10 Consulants urged well-wishers to come forward and support the noble cause.
“Unfortunately, to quite a large number of us, roofs over our heads, clothes and food on our tables are privileges. We should do all in our power to bless it forward. Someone’s prayers are being answered by your actions, despite how small your donation may be,” said Mr Manji.
The August 7th Memorial Park & Visitor Centre General Manager Natasha Mbugguss said the park stood as a symbol of peaceful cohabitation and was compelled to do what it can to ease the suffering of millions of Kenyans.
