What about the corrupt? Kenyans ask after KMPDU bosses are jailed
Kenyans have reacted with astonishment after seven doctor’s union bosses were jailed for a month for contempt for failing to call off the 72-day-long strike as ordered by the Labour court.
On Monday, Employment and Labour Relations judge Hellen Wasilwa found KMPDU Chairman Samuel Oroko, Secretary-General Ouma Oluga and others guilty of contempt.
The other officials are Daisy Korir, Evelyne Chege, Allan Ochanji, Mwachonda Chibandzi and Titus Ondoro, according to the union.
The ruling was delivered on December 20 but the sentence was suspended to give room for negotiations.
But after Justice Wasilwa made her orders on Monday, Kenyans on Twitter reacted in shock, asking why those implicated in mage corruption scandals like NYS, Afya House, Anglo Leasing and others are still walking free.

CS Mailu and PS Muraguri should be censured for abdicating duty. You can't jail all the doctors #HealthCrisisKe

The imprisonment of KMPDU officials is a ploy to intimidate the already suffering DOCTORS. Implications are huge
