Daddy Owen and Rufftone mourn death of their father
Gospel singers Daddy Owen and Rufftone are mourning the death of their father, Josephat Mwatia.
Mr Mwatia passed away on Saturday night at his rural home in Kakamega county.
According to a statement from Daddy Owen, Mr Mwatia died after suffering a sudden cardiac arrest.
A thanksgiving mass is scheduled to take place on Thursday the 12th of October at the NPC church on Valley Road from 5 to 7pm.
“It’s with sadness to inform you that we lost our Dad on Saturday night due to a sudden cardiac arrest at our rural home. it is therefore my honor to invite you to a thanks giving service this Thursday 12th Oct at NPC Valley rd 5-7pm.keep us in your prayers. Bless,” read the statement from Daddy Owen.
President Uhuru Kenyatta led Kenyans in sending tributes to the two singers.
Deeply saddened by the death of Mzee Josephat Mwatia, father of gospel artists Rufftone and Daddy Owen. May God comfort the grieving family.

Daddy Owen is a multiple award-winning gospel artiste who has been in the industry for more than 15 years.
Some of his greatest hits include, “Vanity”, “System ya Kapungala” and “Shilingi ya Kenya”, among others.
Rufftone, on the other hand, is one of the pioneer gospel singers in the country with hits like “Mwikulu” released back in 2002.
One of his latest songs include “Mungu Baba” that he collaborated with the Kenya General Service Unit.
