Davido considers career change after moment with striker Memphis Depay
Renowned Nigerian Afrobeats sensation, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has expressed career doubts after hanging out with Atletico Madrid striker Memphis Depay.
The multi-award winning artiste, famous for hits like ‘Assurance’, took to his official Twitter account to share his thoughts on the glamorous lifestyle of professional footballers, sparking a flurry of reactions from his followers.
In the viral tweet, Davido lamented, “Footballers Dey enjoy oo. Be like I chose the wrong profession. Bruhhhhhhhh.”
The candid confession hinted at a moment of introspection for the music star, who seemed to be contemplating the allure of the football world compared to his own chosen path in the music industry.
This revelation came hot on the heels of Davido’s realisation of the opulent wealth enjoyed by football stars such as Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, whose fortunes may have caused him to question his career path.
The timing of Davido’s introspective tweet coincides with reports that he attended Atletico Madrid striker Memphis Depay’s extravagant 30th birthday party.
The Dutch footballer spared no expense in treating guests, including Davido, to a lavish affair that featured a live performance by the Nigerian singer.
In particular, Depay’s celebration was a star-studded affair, with luminaries from both the football and entertainment worlds in attendance.
Among the illustrious guests were Juventus midfielder Paul Pogba, Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham and David Alaba, and a host of other footballing luminaries from top clubs across Europe.
Davido’s electrifying performance added further glamour to the evening as he shared the stage with the birthday boy.
The presence of Ghanaian presidential hopeful Nana Kwame Bediako, a close friend of Depay’s, underlined the exclusivity and cross-cultural appeal of the event.
Bediako, affectionately known as Cheddar in Ghanaian circles, joined the festivities and added his influential presence to the celebrations.
Davido is set to headline Kenya’s Raha Fest, scheduled for March 30 and 31 at Uhuru Gardens.
