Day ‘mkubwa is watching’ warning by Elachi fell on deaf ears

They say when it rains it pours. Embattled Nairobi County Assembly Speaker Beatrice Elachi on Monday failed to stop a number of rowdy MCAs from evicting her from office as even her pleas that the ‘boss’ is watching the fracas fell on deaf ears.

Speaker Elachi could be heard telling Assembly Majority Leader and Jubilee MCA Abdi Guyo that ‘mkubwa’ is watching while asking him to shepherd members out of the office as the eviction party was being beamed live on TV.

“Leader toa watu. Boss anasema utoe watu anaona. Anasema tunaaibisha Nairobi. (Majority leader lead the MCas out. The boss is watching and he is saying that we are casting Nairobi in bad light),” appealed Ms Elachi.

The determined MCAs ignored and pressed on. It is not clear who the boss that was watching is.

Just before that, the former nominated senator could be seen talking on her phone while the ward representatives camped at her office demanding her exit.

Ms Elachi was impeached last week Thursday by the MCAs citing abuse of office, failure to show leadership, conflict of interest, misuse of public funds, among other allegations as grounds for her ouster.
