DCI now in charge of all religious activities for the disciplined forces

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) will now be in charge of all religious activities for the disciplined forces of Kenya.

In a statement, the agency revealed it has been handed the responsibility to spearhead pastoral programs for the disciplined forces for the next two years.

“The mantle held on a rotational basis was handed over to the DCI by the Administration Police Service during a thanksgiving mass held at the Our Lady of Lourdes Cathedral, Machakos County.

“This pastoral program brings together the seven disciplined services including the Kenya Police, Administration Police, DCI, Kenya Prisons, Kenya Wildlife, Kenya Forest, and the National Youth Service,” the DCI said in their October 12, 2022, statement.

The first order of business was preparing for the annual Thanksgiving Mass for the aforementioned disciplined forces.

“The mass, scheduled for next month on a date to be communicated, shall be held at the Holy Family Basilica in Nairobi; and the theme will be borrowed from the book of Isaiah 41:10 that says ‘do not fear for I am with you” continued the statement.

This was announced after an inter-agency committee sat today, October 12, in a meeting chaired by the Director-in-Charge, Reforms, at the DCI, Mr Eliud K. Lagat, as they finalized the Thanksgiving plans.

One of the last religious activities carried out by the Administration Police before handing over the mantle to the DCI was the annual Prayer Day that was held at St Paul’s Catholic Church in Homa Bay County in June 2022.

“I would like to challenge our officers to strictly abide by what they are mandated to undertake, that is, maintaining law and order to earn respect in the society,” Vincent Makokha, the Director of Chaplaincy and Psycho-Social Support for the Administration Police, told the disciplined forces in attendance.

The Kenya News Agency reported that DCI Eliud Langat lauded the disciplined forces for organizing the annual event, encouraging his compatriots to follow the right thing and not fear anything while carrying out their duties.

He was also quoted saying that spiritual interventions for the disciplined forces would guide his colleagues and members of the public ahead of the elections that were held in August 2022.
